Our practice offers the full range of medical services for men of all ages.
In addition to regular health issues, we also provide an affordable and comprehensive health screening service for men. This comprehensive health check is primarily recommended for men between the ages of 45 and 70 and is intended to screen for common treatable illnesses.
Health screening is based on the principal that prevention is better than cure. Health screening can help identify early signs of a disease and provide you with an evaluation of your overall current state of health.
The Well Man Health Check includes an initial assessment carried out by our Practice Nurse and a follow up consultation with your Doctor.
Our Practice Nurse will complete the following:
The Doctor will then speak at length with the patient and carry out a comprehensive physical examination which will include:
- Cardiovascular
- Respiratory
- Nervous System
- Gastrointestinal
- Muscle & Skeletal
- Abdominal
- Testicular
- Prostate
- Skin
Follow up care can be provided as required in the practice. Supplementary tests may be suggested and arranged in certain cases. These tests may need to be carried out in a hospital setting and will carry an additional fee, for example:
- Chest X-ray
- Stress/Exercise ECG
- Ultrasound Scan
- Colonoscopy
- Calcium Score/CT Scan of Coronary Arteries
The entire screening process takes approximately 45 minutes. The total cost for the Well Man Health Check is €150. Any additional investigations or follow up care are not covered in this cost.
Please note that due to the extended nature of these health screening appointments, it is necessary for patients to provide at least 48 hours’ notice of their intention to cancel their appointment. Failure to do so will incur a cancellation charge of €50.
We will need you to complete our medical questionnaire prior to your consultation. You will need to fast for 14 hours prior to your appointment time (it is ok to drink water but we recommend no alcohol consumption for at least two days prior to your appointment). You will be asked to provide a urine sample on arrival.
As you will be fasting prior to your appointment, all Well Man Health Checks are booked into our earliest appointment slots. These slots tend to get booked up quickly so please book well in advance.
A written report containing an interpretation of the Well Man Health Check findings will be issued to your address within 12 working days.
